Challenge
The customer called in after he noticed the additional room he added to his home, was not maintaining the temperatures he was trying to keep it at. After our comfort advisor Rob came out to inspect the home, he found the culprit. In addition to the room, the customer added it had it directly next to an unfinished crawlspace. Rob had a straightforward plan, and the customer knew it was going to take care of the issue.
Solution
Our installers Giovanni and Malik were able to come out and air-seal and insulate the crawl space. We will install a CleanSpace Crawl encapsulation with 2'' Silverglo bolted and add air sealer to the cinder block side walls, and 1" TerraBlock insulation on the floor sealed off with CleanSpace vapor barrier. We will reduce heat loss and infiltration of cold air by sealing and insulating the Rim Joist area with approximately 2" closed-cell polyurethane spray foam insulation. We will seal the connections of two supply vents in the crawl space with closed-cell foam.
