Insulation and Moisture Control in Green Village, New Jersey

Pipe Works Services offers many types of Dr. Energy insulation products for your home. We recently did a job for a damp crawl space in Green Village, New Jersey using spray foam insulation. We tested the moisture content of the surface of the rim joist and sill plate. A minimum of 19% is required for the foam to adhere to the surface as well as preheating the crawl space prior to the installation. Our technicians installed approximately 3” of high density, closed cell foam on the rim joist and sill plate of the entire crawl perimeter. Additionally, we installed 2” of high density foam insulation on the walls in the crawl space. A drainage matting on the crawl space floor was installed to create an airspace and thermal break. The drainage matting is then sloped towards the sump pumps to prevent water from pooling on the floor.

Working On Pipe Lining Project in Netcong, New Jersey

After extensive video inspection of the existing cast iron sewer line we found the entire line leading from the basement to the sewer main in the street to be compromised with excessive scale build up. Pipe Works Services, Inc. proposes the following work: - We will excavate the front yard by the curb to expose the existing cast iron sewer line. We will cut the existing sewer line and hydro scrub the entire line from inside home to the outside trench. This will allow us to flush out all the scale build up in the line into the trench outside and keep the inside of basement clean and free of scale backing up into home during the cleaning process. - We will use the Picote machine to clean and prepare the existing cast iron line to be lined. The inside sewer lines that are located in the back end of the home are not compromised like the lateral exiting the home. We will hydro scrub and Picote these lines clean. - We will supply and install approximately 70 ft. of 4 " scrim liner into existing line. The sewer will be lined from front wall of basement to sewer connection located in the middle of the street. We will use the steaming process to cure the new liner once it is installed. This process will ensure proper curing of the new liner. - Customer's existing water service is original 3/4" galvanized pipe. The main shut off valve is leaking. Due to the age and condition of the galvanized pipe, we highly recommend running a new service from the curb to the home. Since we will have a trench already open by the curb, this portion can be completed at a discounted rate. We will attempt to replace the main water shut off valve while we are installing the liner. If the existing line breaks while attempting to replace the valve, we will need to install the new service. Additional cost for waterservice is not included in this estimate but is listed below. - We will install a clean out by the curb for future service accesss.

Noisy HVAC Unit in Chatham, NJ

The customer states he has noisy unit on basement system. Upon discussion with customer he stated he is looking to minimize noise on system downstairs. The current return is boxed in to the frame of the basement wall, unit is 100k btu capacity on a 3 ton drive system and unit is oversized for this application causing duct-work to create high static pressure, which results in noise. The technician advised of one solution that would add more return to the current and set up by adding a minimum 10” round ducted pipe. However please be advised that this is not a guaranteed solution as unit is oversized. We switched blower speeds and adjusted CFM, the noise was significantly reduced and customer noticed the difference. Since the duct-work is not designed properly for furnace he may experience short cycling issues in the winter time, however we stated if that’s the case we would come out to switch wires back, but the customer would have to replace furnace or at least increase return piping.
