Job Stories From Randolph, NJ
AC Repair

Customer called in stating the air conditioner in the attic stopped working. Upon arrival, the technician spoke to the homeowner who granted tech access to the thermostat. The technician found the Nest thermostat with no power. He then inspected the unit in the attic and found both doors off and the door switch zip tied and hanging off. The control board was showing an error code that means the unit had no 3 amp fuse, instead there was a wire to jump the fuse out; this is why the system worked intermittently, the vibration of the unit would cause the wire to come loose and cut the power to the thermostat. The technician presented the customer with options for repair and the customer chose to proceed with installing a 3 amp fuse. The technician disconnected the wire that was used to jump out the fuse and installed a new 3 amp fuse. The system came right on once the new fuse was installed. The technician found other issues and presented the customer with options to make additional repairs but the customer did not wish to do any additional work. The technician then cleaned up the work area and went over his work with the customer who was happy to have the AC working again.

The technician provided an estimate to replace the thermostat and the customer decided to proceed with the work. The technician removed the existing thermostat and replaced it with a reprogrammable thermostat. The technician then checked operations of heating and cooling and the thermostat was working properly.  The technician then performed a complimentary combustion analysis and found the unit running properly. The technician then went over his work with the customer who was happy to have a new working thermostat.

Boiler Repair

Customer called in stating the hot water boiler for the 1st level is not shutting down even when the thermostat is turned off and the second floor unit will not kick on due to the first floor unit producing heat. The technician arrived on site and spoke to the customer about his concerns. The technician found that the existing thermostat was not calling boiler to turn on or off.  He then traced zone valve leads to check for shortages or any cross wiring. The technician also found the zone valve bypass was in the open position and would not close when lead was disconnected. When the technician disconnected the zone valve leads at the power source the wire shorted and fused together. The technician presented the customer with estimates to replace the thermostat and rebuild one valve motor. The customer decided to proceed with the work. The technician installed and furnished a new Honeywell T4 Pro digital programmable thermostat. He then began to rebuild the valve motor. He disassembled the faulty zone valve head and disconnected power and end switch leads. The technician then installed a new Honeywell zone valve motor and reconnected to gear assembly. The technician then rewired leads to the thermostat and module control. Tested call for heat on first floor and second floor zones with new thermostat. The technician then went over his work with the customer who was very happy that everything was working properly.

They replaced the circuit for the condenser, increasing to 40 amp to match ratings. He replaced the junction and existing power wiring for furnace. Aging Air Conditioning Unit Needs Replacement in Randolph, NJ

Our technician went to the clients home and found the refrigerant levels were extremely low. They advised the customer that the indoor unit is over 25 years of age and outdoor unit is from 2003. Both pieces of equipment are past life expectancy. He also found the compressor testing weak could be due from many years of freezing and refrigerant issues. He advised the customer it is not cost effective to repair a system of this age as well as it is r22.

New Faucet Installation in Randolph, New Jersey

Our technician arrived on site to connect new faucet and connect a new sink to the waste piping. He then cut out two existing PVC traps and installed a new customer supplied Delta kitchen faucet. The tech installed a trap adapter and a dishwasher tailpiece. Additionally, he installed a cap for later access if drain ever backs up. He turned water on to the faucet and ran for several minutes to test operation as well as filled the sink and let it sit for several minutes to test for a leak.
