A customer of Pipe Works Services called with a toilet clog and other plumbing clogged up. Our technicians were out to unclog the line but there was a lot of grease. The line was then hydro scoured but a camera inspection of the main line was recommended. After this was performed, the camera inspection revealed lots of issues with the main sewer line. Technicians Jonny, Nick, Malik, and Washington all repaired and replaced some of the main sewer line and then performed a new sewer lining using sections of the existing pipe called perma-lining. This process makes the pipe stronger than ever and lasts a minimum of 50 years!

The technician visually inspected the water heater and found it leaking from the base with visual signs of corrosion. Customer stated the water heater was from 1998. The technician presented the customer with options to replace the water heater. The customer decided to proceed. The technician began by draining down the water heater and isolating the gas and inlet and outlet water lines. He then removed the existing water heater and placed the new water heater in the designated location in the mechanical / laundry room. The technician connected the gas and vent and ran new inlet and outlet water lines. He then installed the expansion tank. Once this was done, he filled the water heater and purged the air from it. Next he opened the gas valve and started the water heater. While the water heater was heating the technician cleaned up the work area. Customer called in stating they had a shower knob that would no longer adjust the temperature. Upon arrival, the technician checked in with the customer who provided him access to the children's bathroom on the second floor. The customer told the technician that the shower valve is either too hot or too cold. While the technician was inspecting the shower body he noticed the toilet fill valve kept going off. He noticed heavy amounts of calcium build up on the plumbing fixtures. At this time the customer stated that handles on the husband's bathroom faucet were leaking while in use. The technician looked at all the issues then presented the customer with options for repair. The customer chose to replace the shower cartridge in the children's bathroom, rebuild the master bathroom lavatory faucet and partial rebuild of the toilet in the children's bathroom. The technician began the work by shutting down the water to the home. He then attempted to remove the husband's faucet cartridges but was not able to due to seizing from calcium build up. The technician let the customer know he was not able to remove the faucet and offered to replace which the customer declined at this time. The technician then removed the shower cartridge in the children's bathroom and took it to the supply house to match. The technician returned with the shower cartridge. He installed the new shower cartridge. He then restored the water to the home and tested for leaks, none were found and the shower temperature can now be controlled. The technician then isolated the water supply to the toilet and shut off the water. He drained down the toilet and removed the existing fill valve and flush valve gasket and replaced with new. He then turned the water to the toilet back on and tested the toilet by flushing repeatedly. The toilet was left working properly. Pressure Reducing Valve Replacement

Customer called in stating he was looking to replace his pressure reducing valve. The technician arrived on site and spoke to customer to address issue with the water pressure in the home. Customer stated his current pressure reducing valve is 10 years old and water pressure seems to spike randomly. Customer wanted to have the PRV replaced so the technician checked the water pressure and found it to be 80 PSI which is borderline too high. The technician then inspected the PRV and the other plumbing components near by. The technician noticed that the customer's existing water softener was very old and not working properly. There was a lot of hard water damage on the piping within the basement and the water softener was likely clogged which will cause inconsistent water pressure. The technician advised the customer that the water softener should be replaced. The technician also found the existing water heater to be from 2008 which is past its expected life span. The technician did let the customer know that a clogged water heater can also cause water pressure issues. The technician provided the customer with estimates to replace the PRV and water heater. The technician also recommended having a thermal expansion tank installed with the PRV. The technician explained to the customer that replacing the PRV without adding an expansion tank may not solve the issues with the water pressure. Customer acknowledged the advice of the technician and decided to only replace the PRV. The technician then shut off the water to the home and drained down the plumbing system. Next he removed and disposed of the existing whole house PRV. The technician furnished and installed a new whole house PRV. The existing water line was adapted and as a courtesy the technician added a new shut off valve.  The technician then turned the water back on to check for any leaks and ensure everything was working properly. Once the work was complete and the area cleaned up the technician went over everything with the customer. The customer was very happy with the work and glad the technician went over everything so thoroughly.
