Case Studies: Heating

The customer in Summit, New Jersey has two HVAC systems in his attic. One is 2 Ton and the other is 1 Ton. Both should be 2 Tons. Measured rooms and the numbers say 2 Ton for both.

We had a call from a customer in Denville, New Jersey because there was CO2 backing up into the home, which is very dangerous.

A Customer in Watchung called Pipe Works Services about a single ignition system repair over the weekend. We sent our technician Matt to the rescue to help solve this problem. He then called a few days later and was thinking about getting a whole new system because it exceeded its lifespan and was likely to have costly problems in the future.

The customer called in with a leaking boiler. They were experiencing heat on and off and knew they had to act fast. This was a call we take very seriously, especially in the frigid temperatures that we experience in NJ. We knew our senior technician Jonny was the only option for the customer. He is our most senior technician and boiler expert.

A customer called in after noticing that one part of her house had specific furnace controls that were not working properly. Our technician Lloyd was able to come out and diagnose the issue. The customer was facing quite a substantial amount of money in repair work and thought it would be better to just replace the unit rather than spend money on an older system.

A local customer in Chatham Borough, NJ called on a cold Monday asking if we could get someone over there to give an estimate on replacing their heating system. Their carbon monoxide detector had gone off and after the utility company came over and told them the CO level was 50 ppm(parts per million). The average reading in a home is .5-5 ppm. Our comfort specialist was out of the office this day, so Paul, the owner, agreed to go over and see what he could do.

Our customer called looking for service for a furnace that was leaking. Our technician, Zach, went out that same day and initially found that a drain line had a pinhole in it. Unfortunately, this was not all that was wrong with this unit. Upon further observation, it was determined that the heat exchanger was cracked. It was unsafe to run this way, so it had to be shut down. This left the customer without heat until the new unit could be procured.
